GENERAL WORKS
- Human Rights Watch World Report RES 323.4905 HUMAN R yearly
- Each country's entry has three sections. "Human Rights Developments" lists the issues of concern during that year. "Defending Human Rights" discusses actions taken, as well as the NGOs and individuals working in that area. "The Role of the International Community" discusses involvement of the UN, the EU, the US, etc. Not every country is covered every year so check earlier annuals as well as the most recent, which is in Reference rather than reserve.
- Human Rights: The Essential Reference R 323 DEVINE 1999
- Covers history, UN declarations and documents, contemporary issues, and the contemporary human rights movement. This section has a chapter listing and describing nongovernmental organizations and another chapter giving short biographies of human rights activists.
- Human Rights: A Reference Handbook 323 REDMAN 1998
- Similar in content. Chapter 3 has biographical sketches. Chapter 5 is a directory of organizations.
